Introducing North Norfolk

The North Norfolk coast is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  The varied landscape includes sand dunes and salt marshes, downlands, woodlands and heath, with many beautiful villages.

Fakenham itself lies just outside the AONB but is an excellent base with good roads for exploring the whole of north Norfolk.  It is a friendly and unpretentious town, with a thriving market and country auction every Thursday.

Cyclists, birdwatchers, walkers, sailors and photographers all enjoy the area and many return again and again.  We are or have been active in all those hobbies and would be happy to advise newer visitors - we also have guide books and maps for you to borrow.

Finally, for parents, within a few hundred yards we have a (shallow) river with ducks and chickens for the children to feed.

Wells next the Sea for crabbing, beaches, and the longest 12" railway in the world

There are around 400 seals at Blakeney point, with boat trips daily from Morston

This deer park is in the grounds of Holkham Hall, which was the setting for much of 'The Duchess' with Keira Knightley

There are many spectacular beaches -this one is at Holkham and starred in the closing sequences of 'Shakespeare in Love'.
